Taking advantage of the Section 179D tax deduction may help you position your business operations for the long-term.
Section 179D has been extended through 2020.
Signed back in December of 2019 this tax deduction is designed to allow companies to claim a deduction for any projects put into service in 2020.
This means that businesses are allowed to claim a deduction of up to a maximum of $1.80 per square foot for energy efficient commercial building property. Lighting is a qualifying component. For a lighting project deductions up to $0.60 are / square foot are available.
Material expenses don’t change much for many of our clients so opportunities to increase cash-flow can be limited but one of the ways we help businesses do this is by reducing operating expenses through energy-efficiency projects.
In times of financial uncertainty, and while interest rates are at a new lows, now is an even better time to assess making an investment that will enable more lean operations for the future.
Taking advantage of Section 179D may give your company an extra incentive and enable a kick-start to lean operations in 2020.
